Recently my friend Billy sent me a message on Facebook to go fishing. The only thought I had was, “Is there any fish still alive in what little water is left?” Yes, there are fish still living in Lake Arrowhead, Texas. Today, Feb. 24, 2015 the water level is 19%.

After picking up a fishing license we drove out to a house on Lake Arrowhead that is owned by a friend of Billy’s so we didn’t have to pay the fee to enter the park. We picked up the fishing rods and walked about 150 yards or so out to the water. Once we got to the water the lake looked great until you remember that if it was full we would be at least 10 ft. underwater.

Clams. I’ve seen the shells around the lakes but they were always dead. This was the first time that I saw that any were alive. I was told that they taste like mud and they are only used as bait for the fish in the water. Rather than shucking them, Billy broke it open on the edge of a cement block.

Its terrible that I’m bad with names. I didn’t have anything to write with and I quickly forgot Billy’s friend’s name. He helped me cast the first time.

Another friend of Billy’s who lived in the area came down to check-out the water and talk about fishing. I had stopped taking photos since it was so dark and I didn’t have any light. Billy’s friend had driven up in a golf cart and he left his lights on so it was easier to see. I tried taking a few photos and I like what I got.

I liked going fishing for the first time but I really liked going outside and taking photos. We didn’t catch anything but I still have that fishing license. Maybe next time I’ll be able to pull something out the water. Assuming there is still water inside the lake.
